Europeana – European history gone digitial?

Apparently ‘Europeana gives multilingual access to two million digitized books and other items of cultural and historical significance held in over 1,000 institutions in the 27 EU states’.

I guess the question is – is Europe’s digital library good or google gone bad?

I can’t decide which is my favourite reason to be a librarian. is it because “Playing Scrabble on the Internet can be considered professional development” orΒ  is it that you “Get to spend two hours designing a sign that says the library will be closed for the holidays”?
