To be a librarian, or not to be a librarian, that is the question …

There’s a great list of the top 10 reasons why – and why not – to be a librarian over on Timothy McSweeney’s website.

I can’t decide which is my favourite reason to be a librarian. is it because “Playing Scrabble on the Internet can be considered professional development” or  is it that you “Get to spend two hours designing a sign that says the library will be closed for the holidays”?

What’s your favourite?

  1. Being compared to Google, and everyone assuming I read books all day [I sometimes do but not at work] are some the downers in my opinion.

Looking on the bright side. People in the Library for the most part geniunely enjoy engaging with the public and each other and grappling with the major issues of the information age.
